Step 1: Find the advisor, then the school

Step 3: Build the research proposal and documents
The research proposal is the heart of a PhD application. It has to show that you understand the field, can frame a real and specific question, and fit the advisor you are targeting. Everything else supports it.

Shortlist labs, not just schools
Find advisors whose recent, funded work overlaps with your interests. Read their papers so your outreach is specific.
Email potential advisors early

Mind the calendar
Korean universities generally have spring (March) and fall (September) intakes, with applications a few months ahead.
